I love and support the Twinjas mission to bring multiculturalism to the genre. I liked the story, and it was an easy read. I think that because it was written from Sterling's perspective (and later Tetra's), it made it difficult to thoroughly enjoy. That might be more a matter of preference, though.

I wasn't nearly as impressed with the first in the series, Rogue, as I was with this 2nd book. The first book had an abundance of romance, and for me it was too much. That's not a reflection of the quality of the writing or of the intent of the author, however. So, I didn't rate or review based on my own preferences. That being said, this 2nd book was quite the treat! Rich in its historical element, I never felt like the story was dragging on or focusing too much on one thing or another. It flowed easily, but was never predictable. I love to see/read about fierce and capable women, and Caterina fit that bill. I look forward to book #3!

For its genre, I'd say this first in the series was quite good. If you love romance of the fantastical kind, you'll enjoy it. I have to admit, I was drawn in by the cover art for this series. I'm anxious to see where that ending leads.
